Tales of the Bounty Hunters summary:
This book tells all about Boba Fett's life...but the events happening within this book can no longer be counted on as the truth. For example, this book says that Boba Fett was once Jaster Mereel. But, this is false according to the Star Wars movie Attack of the Clones and other, more recent novels about Boba Fett. All the events in this book were true when it was published, but George Lucas changed a few things after the book was published. Below is a summary of the book but be aware that some of the things mentioned in the text below are not true.
It starts off by telling about Jaster Mereel, later known as Boba Fett, killing a fellow Journyman Protector and getting exiled from the planet of Concord Dawn. After Jaster Mereel is exiled he takes on the name of Boba Fett and joins the Empire and becomes a Storm Trooper. Other than saying Fett was once a Storm Trooper, the book doesn't mention any other subsequent events after him being exiled. The next event in the book tells that Boba Fett is watching a Free For All fight on the planet Jubilar. Fett is standing in the audience, watching the four fighters entering the ring, one of them being is future enemy, Han Solo, who had cheated at a game of cards, and on the planet where he did, it was a felony. Han Solo was very young then, and Boba Fett had never seen him before. Boba Fett watched Han Solo win, then when after his bounty, one of the people in the audience.
From there the book skips exactly fifteen years. The next part says Fett is in his ship, Slave I, above the planet of Hoth, waiting for the Millenium Falcon to come off of the planet, fleeing from the Imperials. As it does, Fett notices that it isn't making the jump to Hyperspace, which it should have. Fett knew something had to be wrong with their hyperdrive. Fett saw the ship go into an Asteroid Field and thought "No bounty is worth dieing for". It goes on to tell about the events in Star Wars Episode 5, and tells of Vader hiring the elite 6 Bounty Hunters to pursue Han Solo and his crew. Just as the briefing was over, the Imperials found the ship and tried to destroy it, but had no success. Han flew the ship into the Imperials' garbage, and drifted away with it, leaving the Imperials with no clue as to where they went. Fett knew the trick of hiding in the garbage; it had been done to him before. Fett knew that they couldn't get far with their main hyperdrive disabled. He looked on his charts and saw that Cloud City was the closest thing for them. He went to Cloud City where he made the deal with Calrissian to deliver Solo to Fett.
Fett delivered Solo in carbonite to Jabba the Hutt, who paid him a quarter of a million dollars for his services. A few days later, Leia, Luke, and the rest of the rescuers arrived to save Han Solo. The executions for the rescuers and Han are held, just as in Episode VI, and Fett falls into the Sarlacc. The book doesn't describe the incident very well. But instead, it summarizes the incident of Fett falling into the Sarlacc and the events subsequent of that for 15 years into one paragraph...rather than describing the events. The book doesn't even tell how Fett got out of the Sarlacc, it tells nothing of Dengar coming and nursing the injured Fett back to health.
After summarizing all of these important events into one paragraph, it tells about Boba Fett, doing what may be his last job as a Bounty Hunter. Boba Fett had traced the target, a Devaronian named Kardue'sai'Malloc, the Butch of Montellian Serat, from Tatooine to a world named Peppel. There was a five million credit bounty on the butcher, five million credits of retirement money for Fett.
Fett caught the Butcher and put him aboard his ship, Slave IV, in one of the holding cells. Fett thought it would be a good idea to get the Bounty Hunters Guild involved since he had such a serious bounty. Fett had taken this bounty without wearing his Mandalorian Armor. So, on the way to Devaron, where a guild representative would be waiting, he dressed himself in his armor, aboard the Slave IV. It was not the armor he'd worn in past years...that armor was burned and cracked, somewhere in the belly of the Sarlacc.
The book went into a brief flashback, telling how Boba Fett had killed Jodo Kast. He has killed him no more than a year after he had escaped the Sarlacc. He had tracked him down via the Bounty Hunters Guild. He'd pretended to be a client, and requested the services of Kast. Kast came, but by that time Fett had changed into his spare armor. Fett killed Jodo Kast, and took his armor.
Fett docked on the planet and handed over the Bounty. Fett was paid five million credits. The Guild Representative took the bounty and left, but first informed Fett that Han Solo was on Jubilar, a planet which both Fett and Solo had been on before, as mentioned in previous paragraphs. Solo had gone there because he had nothing to do, and felt like smuggling something, for the first time in a long time. Solo had not smuggled anything for years, and he didn't have anything to do anyway because Luke was at a dinner party, Chewie was at his home world of Kashyyyk, Leia was at a diplomatic treaty signing, and Lando was out of town. So, Han went to Jubilar, to try and remember what it had been like to smuggle stuff.
Somehow, the Guild found out that Solo was on Jubilar and then informed Fett of it. Solo was as vulnerable as ever, not being in the New Republic's territory on Coruscant. Fett arrived on Jubilar, and instantly went after Solo. Han was not prepared for Fett so he had lousy weapons and was not going to be able to put up much of a fight. Fett was laying on his stomach in a sniping position and shot a cord that made all the lights go out. Then he fired into the darkness where Solo was standing. He missed...for the first time in his whole life. Solo started running away trying to find his speeder. Fett had hit an obese woman that had been standing next to Solo. Fett knelt beside her and was going to apologize, but, decided that her subtraction from the galaxy would be a good thing, so he stood back up and looked for Solo. It wasn't long before they saw each other and pointed their blasters at each other at the same time. They were 5 yards away at the most but both of them held their fire. They knew that if one shot, the other would shoot them back before they died. Fett's combat armor would do him no good at this close of a range. Han Solo told Fett to shoot him. Fett insisted that Solo shoot first. They began to argue about why Fett was chasing Solo and why he was after him...with every word said, they took a step closer. Before long they were pointing their blasters at one another's chest. They were eventually able to get out of the situation alive and go on about their lives.
Dengar's section of the book:
There is a part in this book dedicated to telling the life story of Dengar. Since Dengar and Fett were once allies, it mentions Fett alot in Dengar's section, however, not even once in Boba Fett's section. In Dengar's section it tells how he saved Fett from the Sarlacc and how they became partners.
