This tutorial will teach you how to use Winamp to play your .flac music files.

With older versions of Winamp, you needed to download a seperate plugin to play .flac files. In recent versions of Winamp, this file type is automattically supported. However, a lot of people accidentally disable this feature when they are installing Winamp. Take the following steps while installing Winamp (or re-installing if you already have Winamp and have just realized you can't play .flac files) to play the files.

Once you've clicked next on the initial screen, accepted the license agreement, and selected a location to install Winamp, you'll see this screen:

The simple solution to this problem is to just make sure that the "Multimedia Engine" check box has been selected and then continue installation. However, if you expand this option by clicking the plus sign next to it, you'll see the option where you can disable or enable FLAC support (along with support for other file types as well).

Make sure the box for FLAC has been checked, continue switching on/off the options you want or don't want, and then finish the installation. Now your .flac files are playable via Winamp.

IF YOU ARE USING AN OLDER VERSION OF WINAMP AND HAVE NO DESIRE TO UPGRADE, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE FLAC PLUGIN HERE: DOWNLOAD FLAC PLUGIN.
