This tutorial will teach you how to disable (or enable) programs from starting up at boot in Windows XP, Vista, and 7. There are 3rd party programs that can do this, but in this tutorial we will be using the one built into Windows, msconfig.

In Vista and 7, you can hit the Start menu and just type msconfig and press enter. Msconfig will pop up, from there just go to the Startup tab.

From here just click off the check boxes for the programs that you don't want to run at boot.

In XP, click Start, then click run, and type msconfig, then press enter.
