This tutorial will teach you how to get rid of the "Do you want to change the color scheme to improve performance?" error message in Windows 7.
If you haven't noticed, despite choosing the "Keep the current color scheme, and don't show this message again," the message will continue appearing.
Every time I run Battlefield Bad Company 2, I get this error popping up in the background:

You may get the error when ever you try to run any resource intensive application. Here is the remedy to the problem:
Navigate to the application .exe - if you are doing this because of Battlefield Bad Company 2, the location of the file is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield Bad Company 2\BFBC2Game.exe
Right click the file and go to Properties. Click the Compatibility tab. Check the "Disable desktop composition" box and click OK. From now on, when you start that application, Windows will automatically change to Windows Basic theme, and revert back to the previous theme as soon as the application closes.
