A Windows 7 Theme Pack is used to centralize a set of desktop wallpapers as well as color and sound schemes. This tutorial will show you how to create a Theme Pack and make it distributable.

First, right-click on an open area of your desktop. The following menu will appear – click "Personalize."

Once you select the Personalize option, the menu below will appear. Once open, you will need to select your wallpaper(s).

Currently, my unsaved theme is using a black wallpaper, a custom color theme, the default sound scheme, and no screensaver. The first step will be to select the wallpapers you would like to be part of your theme pack. Click on "Desktop Background" (see above) and the following menu will appear:

You can then choose the location from where you want to select your background using the “Picture Location” drop-down menu. You can check more than on wallpaper, and select the slideshow options which will appear below the picture selection menu. Once selected, you can press the “Save changes” button. You can follow the same procedures with the Windows color, sound scheme, and screen saver if necessary. Once finished, right-click on the icon of your unsaved theme pack, as below:

If you want to distribute this theme pack, select "Save theme for sharing." You will then be asked to save a .themepack file. This file will contain the settings for your theme. Once you name the file, you will be able to send this .themepack file to others. They will then just have to open the file and the theme will be instantly installed.
